It's that special time of January, the Griz Football schedule for next season is out.

We'll have 6 home games (that just doesn't seem like enough...every time we have our last home game of the season I'm always left feeling like we just got started), with 4 Big Sky Conferences foes and 2 nonconference FCS Subdivision squads.

Our first home game will be September 1st against Joe Glenn and his South Dakota Coyotes.  The Coyotes were 6-5 last season with wins over nationally ranked Eastern Washington, who were 30-17, and Southern Utah, 24-19.  The Griz travel to Boone, North Carolina on September 8th to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a game that will highlight 2 of the nation's most successful FCS programs over the last decade.  That's gonna be a damn good game.  The Mountaineers were 8-4 last season and ranked 12th in The Sports Network/Fathead.com's final poll.

Our 2nd home game will be a helluva match up as well, with the Griz taking on the Liberty Flames on September 15th.  Liberty is another kick ass FCS team that finished 7-4 last season.  The Flames are out of Lynchburg, Virginia, are 25th ranked, return 13 starters from last season and recently hired former Kansas coach Turner Gill.

The Big Sky opener and what will be our 3rd home game in 4 weeks will be on September 22 against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in the annual Homecoming contest.  The Lumberjacks return 15 starters from a 4-7 team.

Griz/Cat weekend is November 17, which ends the regular season.  This will be the 112th clash.

I don't know about you, but all this has done is make me long for fingerless "beer" gloves, a snow hat with ear flaps, a Griz pull over, a maroon paw on the face, beer in a plastic cup & a semi warm hot dog outside of my favorite stadium.
