This past weekend I was at a barbecue and the hostess had a nice big bowl of bark sitting on her table for everyone to enjoy. It’s one of those things I don’t normally think to serve at a get together, but I must say I enjoyed more than my fair share of it. I’d forgotten how much I like bark.

So, when I ran across this festive Fourth of July recipe, I just knew I had to make it for our family get-together. It’s super easy to make and I know the kids will love it (and the adults too). It looks great and tastes even better.

If you’re looking for a sweet and salty treat to serve at your Fourth of July party, consider this festive treat.

4th of July Bark

1 row of Oreos (about 15)

1 1/2 cups pretzels

1 bag white candy melts (vanilla or white chocolate)

1 1/4 cup red, white and blue M&Ms

Red, white and blue sprinkles

Cut the Oreos into large chunks and smash the pretzels into small pieces. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and then sprinkle the Oreo chunks and pretzel pieces on top of it.

Heat the white candy melts in the microwave by cooking it for 30 seconds and then stirring. Repeat until it is fully melted. Pour the melted candy melt over the Oreo and pretzel.

Quickly sprinkle the M&Ms and festive sprinkles over the candy melt before the melt cools. Let the bark cool and then peel it off of the wax paper and then break into bite sized pieces.
