51 year-old Timothy Haithcox was arrested over the weekend in Missoula and held on several felony charges out of East Helena.

According to court documents, Haithcox allegedly kidnapped a woman, beat her and sexually assaulted her over a four hour period and threatened to kill her over 30 times. She met Haithcox online and invited him to come and live with her in East Helena. After a night of drinking, he returned home and allegedly kicked her in the genitals and the rectum and slammed her head against a cabinet.

Haithcox has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual assault, and tampering with evidence, all felonies allegedly committed between April 11 and 12.

Lewis and Clark Sheriff Leo Dutton said Haithcox terrorized his female victim.

"He had a dispute with a woman and held her against her will and beat and abused her for an extended amount of time, so it wan't just a few minutes of terror," Dutton said. "This went on for at least four hours. It was significant. The victim has been treated and released from St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, but the emotional scars from this incident may last for years, and I hope that we can be a good partner in helping her to get over this incident."

Dutton said it took authorities about four days to ascertain Haithcox's location.

"He packed up his belongings and left the area, and one of our detectives did an excellent job, finally locating him in Missoula," he said. "He worked with the Missoula Police Department, and he was arrested on the charges. He will be returned to Helena to face these charges that could result in a life sentence in prison."
