With the Christmas party season in full swing, Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks has some sobering news for party-goers. Drink and drive at your peril.

Marks says just some of the problems that come with a DUI arrest are mandatory incarceration, suspension of your drivers license, increased insurance rates, court costs and attorney's fees.

If convicted of DUI, Marks says the ramifications can be much worse, from possible jail time to expensive daily testing to possible loss of your job. Those with commercial drivers licenses will find themselves out of work, because the state will revoke a commercial license upon conviction of DUI. Many other state agencies also penalize employees with DUI convictions.

Marks says a good time at a Christmas or New Year's party can come at a great cost, so choose a designated driver....and never drink and drive.
