Anthrax are enjoying a great run with the ‘Worship Music’ album, and guitarist Scott Ian says he’s not expecting it to end anytime soon.

When asked by ARTISTdirect.com if the band had started writing for their next record, the guitarist replied, “Our attitude is even though we’ve been on tour since September when the album came out, it’s still so early. We feel like we have a lot of work to do and a long way to go until the end of the cycle for this album. There’s no reason to rush anything.”

However, Ian did say that there are a few things that could be addressed. He explains, “I can’t say we’ve officially started writing. There are a couple of ideas from the ‘Worship Music’ sessions that didn’t get finished which are close. They need some work. That’s why they’re not on the album.”

There’s also been talk of recording some covers, but no official release date has been announced.

So far, ‘Worship Music’ has yielded the singles ‘Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t,’ ‘The Devil You Know,’ ‘In the End,’ and ‘I’m Alive.’

Anthrax has been spending their summer headlining the second stage of the Mayhem Festival.
