Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has had his issues with Metallica since being ousted from the band nearly 30 years ago, but he’s apparently settled them because Megadeth and Metallica are on the bill of a series of shows, and a collaboration may be in the works.

Metallica and Megadeth are performing on the same bill on a series of upcoming ‘Big 4′ concerts, which also include Slayer and Anthrax. They might also team up for a recording project.

During a recent radio interview, Mustaine said he’s proposed the idea of a supergroup that would include himself and Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson, as well as Metallica frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. “I’ve talked to Lars and James about me and David doing a supergroup record with Lars and James,” the red-haired guitarist/singer said. “Well, James never said ‘no,’ but it’s still kind of out there in the air. I’m gonna keep hammering on him. It’s on my bucket list.”

Such a recording project would represent quite a turnaround for Mustaine, who was fired from Metallica in the early ’80s. Mustaine later recalled that the creation of Megadeth was a form of vengeance. He said, “After getting fired from Metallica, all I remember is that I wanted blood. Theirs. I wanted to be heavier and faster than them.”

While it’s not yet known if Mustaine will get his wish, new music from Megadeth is coming out soon — the band will release ‘TH1RT3EN’ on November 1.  The ‘Big 4′ tour next comes to New York’s Yankee Stadium on September 14.
