Ashley Loring HeavyRunner was 20-years-old when she went missing from her home reservation, the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, in June of 2017. The Blackfeet Community College student was last seen in Browning and more than four years later, her family has no answers to what may have happened to this young, Native woman who was preparing to move to Missoula.

Sadly, devastatingly, Ashley is just one of many victims of the missing and murdered Indigenous people epidemic that plagues Native communities throughout the United States. Like many of the Indigenous people in these unsolved cases, families are left to search, hope, and try to uncover their own answers to find out what happened to their loved ones, or to fight for justice.

The popular podcast "Up and Vanished" began in 2018 and investigates the cases of missing people. The podcast was started by an Atlanta-based filmmaker named Payne Lindsey, who serves as executive producer and host of each show. Season 3 will focus on the disappearance of Ashley Loring HeavyRunner. You can listen here.

Ashley Loring HeavyRunner is described as being 5’2” and weighing about 90 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She would be 24 years old today. Anyone with information on Ashley’s whereabouts is asked to call the Salt Lake City FBI at (801) 579-1400 or (800) CALL-FBI, tips in the case can also be submitted online here.
