Drugs contributed to more crime in Missoula this week. According to Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, one of those crimes resulted in a very odd Assault with a Weapon charge.

"Drug related cases we've seen three new meth cases this week and one assault with a weapon that I categorized under drug cases because it was definitely drug motivated," Pabst said. "The weapon was a boombox illegibly."

According to Pabst the use of heroin and meth are on the rise in Missoula, along with the number of DUIs.

"It's kind of a constant disturbing trend of DUIs," Pabst said. "We had another felony DUI which means 4th or subsequent offense. One felony child criminal endangerment, that was DUI related. There were two little kids in the car, mom was illegibly intoxicated, and many many misdemeanor DUI tickets as well."

Pabst also said that The Missoula County Attorney’s office was working on a training manual that will be used in other jurisdictions on how to best handle sexual assault cases.
