Associated Students of The University of Montana Transportation recently applied for and received a Clean Diesel Grant from Montana Department of Environmental Quality to purchase a new 2013 El Dorado bus.

The new bus will replace one of the 1997 model park-and-ride buses, and will run cleaner and quieter than the older buses.

ASUM President Zach Brown says the University is excited to receive the grant from DEQ because of a strong effort to reduce noise and pollution in the area. Brown says the cleaner, quieter buses are one way to be better neighbors to residents in the University district.

Brown says the perk and ride buses will take on an even greater importance when the South Campus area is developed and there will be even more traffic and congestion in the area.
