The superintendent of Bonner School, Doug Ardiana remains suspended after a physical altercation with a male juvenile family member on March 31.

Ardiana's attorney Paul Ryan, said the court has lifted the restriction that the defendant be prohibited from his home, at the family's request.

"Like any family, there are always issues raising teenagers and I think this is one of those cases," Ryan said. "There was definitely a physical confrontation and I think the facts will bear out that the parent was in a tough situation. Right now, the family is trying to work through this. Right now, (Ardiana) is restricted to within the State of Montana, but he is allowed to be at home. The family went in and requested he allowed to return home. At this point they're not living together, but that's something that may happen down the road."

Ryan said the matter is staying in municipal court.

:This will stay at the city court level," he said. "The next appearance will be an omnibus hearing which will set up the proceeding court dates."

Ryan said the male juvenile who filed the complaint was not seriously injured,  however the incident was serious enough that Ardiana, 50, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor partner or family member assault.

There was no word on if or when Ardiana would be reinstated as superintended of Bonner School.
