For all the Guns N’ Roses fans hoping and praying that the members of the band (like Slash and Axl Rose) will be able to bury the hatchet and perform on stage together for the first time in years at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions, don’t hold your breath just yet.
The hard rock scene’s most beloved enigmatic rockers -that’d be Tool– are gearing up to hit the road next month on a North American trek. The band has already added some new dates to their itinerary, much of which sold out at a rapid clip. Since Tool going on tour is not exactly a common occurrence, fan anticipation is at an all time high.
Sunset Strip dwellers Steel Panther have scored a plum hometown gig. The delightfully throwback-ish band will open for Guns N’ Roses at the Forum in Los Angeles tomorrow, Dec. 21. The tongue-in-cheek glam revivalists just wrapped a U.K. trek with Motley Crue and Def Leppard and will cap off a stellar 2011 with this GN’R gig.
Normally, you want to savor the holidays and enjoy some time off with family and friends, right? Well, Lamb of God just released the second teaser clip from their forthcoming platter ‘Resolution,’ which drops on Jan. 24, and it makes us want the holidays to fly by so we can get our hands on the whole thing so we can headbang until we burst blood vessels in our necks!
Guitar superhero Zakk Wylde has been transmogrified into a puppet in the new ‘Question of the Episode’ segment of a Foam Foolery cartoon. The cartoon borrows audio from the interviews that Revolver commissioned the always entertaining Wylde to do at the Metal Masters 2 clinic prior to the Big Four show in New York City earlier this year.
Trent Reznor is a hot topic right now, having scored the much anticipated ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,’ with musical partner Atticus Ross. Reznor and Ross, along with Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig, are readying the full-length debut of their How to Destroy Angels project.
At last night’s Guns N’ Roses show (Dec. 16) at the Key Arena in Seattle, ex-GN’R bassist Duff McKagan hopped on stage to perform with his former band and its current lineup. Fans were likely expecting such a cameo, since McKagan’s band Loaded opened for GN’R and will do so again tonight (Dec. 17) at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia. Perhaps Canadian fans will be treated to the same reunion of sorts. With the band’s loyal contingent of fans hoping for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reunion this April, seeing McKagan perform with Axl Rose again is hopefully a harbinger of things to come in 2012.
Drummer Matt Sorum, who has manned the kits for Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver and the Cult throughout his career, recently revealed details of his final days as the stickman for GN’R. With the band’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction looming, memories of those days are surely rising to the surface in vivid fashion.
Metallica played their fourth and final “intimate” anniversary show for fan club members last night (Dec. 10) at the Fillmore in San Francisco. The band has been performing and releasing previously unheard songs from 2008′s ‘Death Magnetic’ with each show as well as inviting some key guests from ‘Tallica’s history to perform with them. Last night, they debuted ‘Rebel of Babylon’ and brought former guitarist Dave Mustaine, ex-bassists Jason Newsted and Ron McGovney (he pre-dates Cliff Burton) and Hugh Tanner, who was in Leather Charm with James Hetfield and McGovney, on stage.
