Among the many celebrities that attended WWE’s ‘Summerslam’ on Aug. 19, was Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst. As the camera panned to Durst during the live pay-per-view event, the nu-metal musician scrunched up his face and raised a middle finger to the camera that was broadcast into the homes of millions of wrestling fans. Rumor quickly spread that Durst was kicked out of ‘Summerslam’ after flipping the bird, but the non-backwards-hatted Durst has just claimed that the reason he left his seat was to go backstage and offer an apology.
Ted Nugent is one of the most politically outspoken rock stars in the world. It’s no secret that Nugent is strongly against Barack Obama and endorses Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, but Nugent has now painted the two politicians on polar opposite sides. Nugent recently stated, “I am saddened to admit that Obama represents everything bad about humanity and Romney pretty much all that is good.”
The Company Band are made up of an all-star lineup of groove-oriented acts. Consisting of Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon, CKY drummer Jess Margera, Fireball Ministry’s James Rota, Fu Manchu’s Brad Davis on bass and guitarist Dave Bone, the Company Band boast one of the most solid foundations in modern rock. We recently had the chance to see the band live in Brooklyn, New York and to talk with both Margera and Rota before the show.
Although the legal process has been a slow and frustrating one for Lamb of God‘s Randy Blythe, things may be starting to look up for the vocalist. According to Czech journalist Jonathan Crane, the Czech media has been biased against Blythe from the beginning and he adds that the person shown being tossed offstage in various YouTube videos may not be the deceased fan. He also states that Blythe’s defense team has a “strong case” to protect the Lamb of God vocalist from receiving a “guilty” verdict.

Our hearts go out to Deftones bassist Chi Cheng and his family, as yet another bout of pneumonia is keeping the musician in the hospital. Back in June, Cheng, who has been in a three-plus-year coma, was supposed to be sent home after battling pneumonia but now remains hospitalized with another bout with the illness.
Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan is one of the most renowned members of Slipknot. The percussionist and backing vocalist has dawned many different clown masks during his tenure with the band, all of them being some of the most memorable metal disguises in Slipknot’s long history. You may consider Crahan to be irreplaceable, but Clown has plans for a worthy successor to to take over his role when he retires — his son, Gage Crahan.
As we recently reported, a 19-year-old female concertgoer tragically died on July 15 during the Toronto, Canada, stop of the Vans Warped Tour. The unidentified music fan was reportedly found unconscious in the early afternoon and died from as-yet-unknown causes. In response to the fan’s passing, the Vans Warped Tour have released an official statement about the incident.
On March 19, 1982, legendary Ozzy Osbourne / Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads died in a tragic plane crash. Thirty years later, Rhoads’ death still remains one of the saddest losses in rock music history. With today’s (July 17) release of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Speak of the Devil’ DVD, it not only documents a captivating live performance, but also the depth of emotion shared by the musicians and fans alike less than three months after Rhoads’ death.

Pearl Jam superfan Brian Farias was recently given the opportunity of a lifetime. Farias, who has attended 108 Pearl Jam concerts in his lifetime, was given the honor of personally creating the setlist for one of the band’s shows in Amsterdam.
