Anyone who is in their 30s grew up with a bologna that had a first and a last name. Yes, Oscar Mayer taught all of America’s youth that the only way to spell bologna was O-S-C-A-R and M-A-Y-E-R.
The most important thing to take into consideration when helping your teen hunt for a summer job is finding a job that fits them. If your teen is a clean freak, you may want to steer him or her away from a job in landscaping. However, if your teen loves the sun and the water, a lifeguard job might just be right up his or her alley. Keeping these things in mind, I’ve compiled a list of some of the best summer jobs for teens in and around Missoula.
Most of us 30 somethings grew up with the soothing, mild-mannered, sweater-loving man named Mr. Rogers. Every kid dreamed of being his neighbor. He loved helping children learn while having fun in a calm and relaxed environment.
To say that New York and Missoula are worlds apart is an understatement. There are few things that we have in common. However, that is what makes us both special.
I am very excited. This weekend my boys and I are doing our first-ever race together. Yes, this saturday you can find all five of us behind a pair of shades at the Color Me Rad 5K right here in Missoula.
Most college athletes eat, sleep and breath their sport. They have worked hard to be able to compete in their sport at a college level, and many have received scholarships for their hard work and talent. Endless hours of training and practice consume a college athlete’s life. So, why would one such athlete give up his last chance to enjoy the sport he loves, and in his senior year no less? To save someone else’s life.
This past weekend, Missoula was host to the Orvis Guide Rendezvous Show. This show included both Montana-based companies and companies based outside of Montana, all of which cater to fly fishing in some aspect or another. Pretty much any and every kind of company that can be associated with fly fishing was there, from raft frame makers to cooler manufacturers and drift boat manufacturers to anchor companies.
Have you ever wondered if there was a better job for you out there? Have you ever dreamed it was possible to not loathe waking up and forcing yourself to go to the same old boring job day after day? What if you could have a job with better pay and less stress? What would that job be?
If you’ve ever seen a western then you know that everyone in the west drinks whiskey, that is unless they’re yellow-bellied. You don’t get much more western than Montana and rodeo. What better way to help raise a little money for a good cause than with a whiskey tasting? They do realize that not everyone likes whiskey, so they’ll let those of you who don’t, taste wine instead.
Have you ever noticed how different animals eat? It’s interesting if you think about it. For example, a cow simply plants its face in its food and chews away. How about an alligator? What do you think it’s like when an alligator opens its big jaws and just chomps away? That must make quite a mess. How about a lizard? It slithers along and then suddenly attacks its prey.
All the sports that have been on TV lately have put me in the chip and dip kind of food and my husband in a buffalo chicken wing kind of me. To tell you the truth, he is always in the buffalo chicken wing kind of mood. I swear he and my boys could eat them three times a week.
Missoula seems to be a hot spot for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Starting and running a small business is no small task, especially in Montana. It seems that we were one of the last places for the Internet and cellphone companies to find. But now that they are here and just about everyone has them, wouldn’t it be great if you could reach them?
