With Christmas coming this week, Loudwire recently asked a few rockers for their favorite holiday memories. Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows was one of those musicians, and like many children of his age, his first gaming system was his favorite gift he ever got.

"My favorite gift memory was getting my first Nintendo from my grandmother, now that I'm thinking about it. That's what started the whole journey [to the Avenged Sevenfold's recent 'Hail to the King: Deathbat' video game]," says Shadows. "I remember it came with 'Mario Bros.' and 'Duck Hunt.' I remember setting it up on the TV with the wires in the back and it blew my mind at the time. Just getting my first Nintendo was amazing."

Now that he's older, Shadows is thrilled to be passing on the tradition to his son. "This year is going to be amazing because I have a 2-year-old and it'll be his first year being cognizant of what Christmas is and being excited and running downstairs," says the singer. "We already see with Halloween how excited he is, so I'm just excited to start that chapter of my life where you get excited because your kids are excited."

Thanks to M. Shadows for sharing his holiday memory and he joins Loudwire in sending his best to the Loudwire readers this holiday season.
