Bitterroot Crawfish Boil 2018
Earlier this year, I found myself sitting in my house waiting out a snow storm. I daydreamed of summer. I thought about all the fun I wanted to have in the sun. One of those things was catching some crawfish. I fought off the cabin fever of early February by building custom crawfish traps. Afterwards, all I had to do was sit back and wait for the day to go after them.
That day finally arrived.
This past weekend I teamed up with a bunch of friends from all over the Bitterroot Valley. We all had 2 goals for the day. Relax a little and go hunting for "mudbugs." Armed with snorkels and buckets, we set out into the Bitterroot River. The term "no stone left un-turned" is a little bit of an understatement. We did our best to target and catch as many of these tasty critters as we could.
At the end of the day, we all gathered around the tailgate of the truck to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Which is an amazing local delicacy. Raised in the crystal clear waters of the Bitterroot, these crawfish taste nothing like the ones you may have sampled out of a Louisiana swamp.
