"Dodge, Duck Dip, Dive and Dodge," the 5 D's of dodgeball. That is what will be happening this weekend in Hamilton. Firefighters from up and down the Bitterroot valley will be battling it out in full "turnout gear," to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research.

What is "turnout gear?" According to a recent article in the Ravalli Republic

Event organizer HVFC Chief Brad Mohn said the competition literally will be hot.

“We’ll be in our full gear and on air, and the sheriff’s team will have flak jackets with belts.”

Mohn said the firefighters are competing with their self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) because cystic fibrosis is a disease that makes breathing difficult.

The Firefighters’ Dodgeball tournament begins at 1 p.m. at the Red Sox Baseball field in Hamilton. Admission is $5 per person and $15 per family, and there are raffles and prizes.
