Bitterroot River Levels Rise in Warm Weather

The warm weather of the past few days has brought the river levels up around western Montana - the Bitterroot River included.

The U.S. Geological Survey water gauge at Bell Crossing near Victor rose two feet from Sunday, May 21, to Thursday, May 25. The river rose from 7.2 to 9.15 feet, with the flood level at 11 feet.

The gauge at Conner, above Darby, also rose about a foot and half from Sunday. It was 4.25 then and Thursday morning the level was 6.09 feet. Flood level there is 7.5 feet.

U.S.G.S. Projections do not anticipate the river reaching flood stage in the next few days.
