The Bitterroot Stockgrowers have an annual gathering that has been expanding each year. The seminars and banquet planned every winter have been joined by a nice display of agriculture equipment - everything from squeeze chutes to hay balers and tractors.

The center of activity is the First Interstate Event Center at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. The Ag Expo is Friday (with a special evening get-together from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and Saturday from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. It's open to the public and there's free admission to the expo. You can buy some concessions from the Jolly Ranchers 4-H Club. The Saturday seminars this year include weed control, conservation easements, nutrition in the pastures, planning your agricultural estate and animal ID and chute handling.

Then, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the equipment moves out and the tables and chairs get set up for the big banquet. All banquet tickets need to have been purchased ahead of time. No tickets at the door! BR Stockgrowers president Brian Rouse said the no host cocktail hour is at 5 p.m., Dinner at 6 p.m., Living Legacy Award and Steer of Merit winners presentation at 7 p.m., followed by a live auction with Ricky Peverly. During the evening, a silent auction will be going on.
