"We need people to put on skis and snowshoes, to do timing; write the times down times and run the stopwatches. There's always a lot of volunteer help that's needed. We need about 100 people a day to help up there."

Volunteers can show up the day of the event and ask to help, or call they can Carla Christopherson directly at 363-3028 to plan things out ahead of time.

"We've put this on for 35 years up there, and if you come up and help, you'll see why people come back year after year," Christopherson said. "All of our athletes are just so enthusiastic. They're enthusiastic about their races and winning a medal. It's very infectious. Once we get volunteers to come up and help out, they want to come back."

The Special Olympics Winter State Games will be held in Whitefish, Montana next month from February 23rd through through the 25th.
