The material has been put in place and now the construction begins on a weakened stock bridge about three miles up the Blodgett Creek Trail of the Bitterroot National Forest.

Tod McKay of the Bitterroot National Forest said that the old bridge will be taken out this week and a new bridge will be built by the Montana Conservation Corps. The project, under the direction of the Bitterroot National Forest Trail Supervisor Steve Bull, will take about six weeks of work, beginning July 27.

During that time, trail users will have to ford the creek, but the water level is pretty low, making the crossing fairly safe, according to McKay.

The bridge is funded by the Ravalli County Resource Advisory Committee, which funds several projects each year that benefit the environment of the valley and the Bitterroot National Forest.
