Supergroups are increasingly common and among most noteworthy are Hellyeah. For fans, bands like this bring the best each member has to offer from their respective groups into one new package, but often times the members' original bands can fall by the wayside. Singer Chad Gray falls into this category as Mudvayne have been on hiatus since 2010 and he has opened about what led to the dormant status.

"I still love and talk to those guys, but it's like being in a relationship and all the sudden things just start to fall apart," Gray told Billboard. "Mudvayne was just dissolving. It became too much for all of us. It was no one person in particular's fault. We all have faults. It was crumbling beneath us," he continued, turning his eye towards the future adding, "I chose to be an artist and continue to play in Hellyeah."

Gray expressed his understanding regarding the demand for Mudvayne, stating, “People want what they want — sometimes you can’t have what you want. That’s been the frustration — they want Mudvayne, but we can’t give it to ’em. I tell people all of the time, ‘Dude, if you want to hear it, buy it and listen to it. There are CDs and I am hugely proud of what we did.’"

Mudvayne have been largely silent since 2010, releasing their last album, Mudvayne, in 2009. Gray formed Hellyeah with former Pantera's Vinnie Paul and Nothingface's Tom Maxwell. The lineup is now rounded out by Kyle Sanders and Christian Brady on bass and guitar respectively. The band's fifth album, Unden!able, is set for release on June 3. The album will also boast a cover of Phil Collins' "I Don't Care Anymore," which will feature original guitar tracks recorded by Dimebag Darrell.
