Chip sealing will begin Monday on various streets in Missoula. The City of Missoula street department chip-seals over 100 streets every year.

A news release from the city reads "the oil and chips seal the asphalt surface from weather erosion, and extended the life of the pavement in the same way paint extends the life of a home. Sealing streets delays reconstruction and and saves dollars and disruption for Missoula residents."

Here is a tentative schedule of chip-sealing work, which may be affected by weather or city crews other workloads.

Duncan Drive, Mountain View Drive to northern end, East and West Main Street, North Orange to Madison Street, East Front Street, Higgins Avenue to Madison Street, West Spruce Street, North Orange Street to Nora Street, North Russell Street, West Broadway to West Railroad Street, South Sixth Street West, Schilling Street to Kemp Street, Schilling Street, South Sixth Street West to South Seventh Street West, Johnson Street, South Avenue West to South 14th Street West, Arthur Avenue, South Avenue West to East Beckwith Avenue.

The project is expected to run through August 8.
