Como Lake in the Bitterroot – Future Plans Being Developed

Tuesday, January 24, is the last Open House opportunity for the local public to chime in with their ideas and hopes for the future of Lake Como southwest of Hamilton.

The Bitterroot National Forest is beginning a Management Plan for the very popular recreation site. According to Tod McKay, two sessions have already been held - in Darby last week and at the Bitterroot Forest Supervisor's Office this past weekend.

The Supervisor's Office is the location for the last three-hour open house, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. There will be forest service staff available, along with maps and information about current activities and what some people are thinking might be good ideas for the future.

McKay, in a news release, said this was sort of a "brainstorm" session where any and all ideas and suggestions are encouraged.

Como is popular for boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, camping, RV camping, horseback riding, biking and, in season, ice fishing, skiing and snowshoeing.
