Montana's largest forest fire, the Copper King fire, is now estimated at 24,778 acres. The Type 1 Incident Commend report puts the the fire, eight miles east of Thompson Falls, at 20 percent contained as of Monday night.

A Red Flag warning has been issued over the area Tuesday, August 30 with scattered, dry thunderstorms expected in the evening.

Crews are constructing indirect line and doing "firing operations" to to try to hold containment lines. Crews are also maintaining structure protection along Highway 200 and along Little Thompson and Thompson River Corridor, according the Tuesday morning report.

Fire officials are also looking at additional contingency lines to the east of the fire. Almost 800 people are assigned to the Copper King Fire.
