The Corvallis area Western Ag Research Center will have its annual Field Day and BBQ Thursday, July 28.

The center, operated by Montana State University's College of Agriculture, is part of a network of centers throughout Montana. It is the center that is farthest west and deals with agriculture issues that are often specific to the Bitterroot Valley.

Apples have always been a major study area, but the center also grows berries, grapes and grasses.

The Field Day is basically an Open House for the center at 580 Quast Lane, northeast of Corvallis about 2 miles.

The schedule Thursday includes talks by the staff Faculty at 4 p.m., a free Barbeque from 5 p.m. to 6:30, along with tours of the field and hoop house.

From 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be a wine and cider tasting.

The research center has been operating since 1907 in the Bitterroot Valley.
