He's been the frontman for Asking Alexandria, he's also fronted We Are Harlot, but these days Danny Worsnop is ramping up to a new solo album that finds him shifting his focus from harder edged rock to more of a country flavor. In a new interview with Alternative Press, Worsnop discussed where his musical priorities lie these days.

"My priority always lies with my art, and that has never changed and will never change," says Worsnop, who adds, "I ended up leaving [Asking Alexandria] because it lost the art to me. It lost its artistic integrity in my eyes. It was just selling out and that’s not what I do."

The struggles with Asking Alexandria have been well documented, with Worsnop eventually leaving after not seeing eye to eye with the other band members over their musical direction. After exiting the group, he did offer positive comments upon hearing new vocalist Denis Stoff on their first released track "I Won't Give In," but on the flip side, guitarist Ben Bruce admitted writing some spiteful lyrics on the band's album inspired by his frustration over Worsnop's exit. But both sides seem to be happier and doing well since the split.

As for his other band, Worsnop explained, "People are wondering if there’s going to be a second Harlot record and yes, there will be. It won’t be this year, but there will definitely be another Harlot record next year. The band still exists."

The singer continued, "Since getting to Nashville, I wrote another 17 songs for my solo record. I’m still of two minds about how to release the album. I’m tempted to do something I know fans will love but the record labels and publishers will not, which is to release a double album. The idea of doing a double-disc with like 30 songs really appeals to me. How many years have I talked about this solo album? Four years? I want to give it to the world."

Worsnop also revealed during the interview that he's recently gotten clean from drug use, though alcohol remains a part of his life. "It’s pretty recent," Worsnop said of getting clean. "I was always back and forth, but this is the first time it feels like it stuck." He credits his move from Los Angeles to Nashville and changing the environment around him for cleaning up. "I’m not going to get arrested anymore," concluded the rocker.

Though Worsnop is still ironing out details on his solo effort, he did just release a new song and video. Take a look and listen to "Out Without You" from his upcoming disc The Prozac Sessions below.
