The 12th annual Darby Dog Derby and Sled Dog races will be Saturday and Sunday at Chief Joseph Pass at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley. Nicki Arndt said that mushers will be gathering for a competitors' dinner at Little Blue Joint in Darby Friday evening. The competition starts Saturday morning at the Gibbon's Pass Road snowmobile parking lot at 9 a.m. with the Skijor racing, followed by 8-dog, 6-dog and 3-dog junior class at 10:30 a.m. The Pee Wee race will be after that and the 4-dog start will be the final competition about 2 p.m. The same schedule (without the PeeWee race) will run on Sunday.

Awards ceremony will be Sunday about 3 p.m. Concessions will be available. There is limited parking, so carpool if you plan to attend. Do NOT bring your own dogs. It interferes with the competition.
