Ex-Korn Guitarist to Tour with Project 86, the Letter Black

Brian “Head” Welch once made a musical living as the lead guitarist of Korn, but when drug addictions and other troubles got the best of him, he found solitude and health in Christ and wound up leaving his Korn band-mates to pursue other avenues.

Welch still makes cathartic alternative metal with his popular project, Head. Now, the lyrics depict a man who has grown in his faith and overcome every hindrance to reach victory. It’s a powerful message and killer music, and the combination builds on the ultra-aggressive innovations of his previous band instead of simply repeating them.

These days, Welch spends his time as a motivational speaker and, of course, touring with Head. Head just announced a North American tour with rockers Project 86, the Letter Black and the Wedding. The jaunt kicks off Sept. 4 in North Platte, Neb., and currently runs through Sept. 25 in Amarillo, Texas. More tour dates are expected to drop: “Make sure you check out our [Facebook] events page to see if we are coming your way,” Welch posted of the growing itinerary.
