The lack of snow has gotten the elk harvest numbers down, but lots of areas in Montana are participating in the "shoulder season," meaning the elk season will go until February in some district. Hunters have been asking if the low harvest numbers could mean an extended general season. Ron Aashiem, with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, says that is "not likely."
