There are wildfires burning Tuesday afternoon in two western Montana locations. One in Glacier National Park and the other in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness area.

Glacier Park Spokeswoman Denise Germann said the new fire was reported on the east side of Going-to-the-Sun Road.

"The Reynolds Creek fire is located near Grizzly Point," Germann said. "It's about six miles east of Logan Pass. At this time it's estimated to be about 60 acres in size and we do have the Going-to-the-Sun Road closed for the most part from the east entrance to Logan Pass, so the east side of the road is closed at this time. Firefighters are responding, as well as a helicopter at this time."

The other fire burning in our region is the Rock Point fire just over the border in Idaho, as Bitterroot National Forest spokesman Tod McKay explained.

"It's a lightning-caused fire," McKay said. "It's burning in Idaho in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, about three miles from the Montana-Idaho border. The first day it was one to three acres, the next day it was 10 to 15 acres, the third day is was 40 and yesterday it grew quite dramatically and it was burning actively throughout the afternoon and it's currently estimated to be about 120 acres."
