We gathered at the Forestry Day event at Fort Missoula, and took turns throwing axes at logs for L.O.G. tickets. What sounded like a deadly risk, turned out to be just as fun as a game of horseshoes. Minus the missing appendages.

No, I did not freak and pull it out but I figured that chopping off the mane would make it alot easier to deal with for the year that I will be gone. Guys in the Army, much less guys in general, don’t get how much work it is to comb out and care for long locks, and if you plan on styling it? Good God, you better have an extra hour to spare in your schedule!  Military side, however, I had so much hair and the regulation bun style hair-do was getting in the way of everything!  Time to go! Plus, I thought it would be a good idea to stock up some heaven points before deployment by donating all 20 inches we chopped of to Locks of Love. Ballsy I know…. but I got pictures! I gotta go back to training tomorrow so HAPPY VETERANS DAY!

Watch out for these guys! Last week The Fail Safe Project rocked the Missoula area not once, but twice.  The first night was at Monk’s Bar with 2AM Logic and Saving Abel. Two days later they returned to hit the BUBSnBOARDS Urban Art Fun Fest out at the Kind Swine BBQ restaurant. If you missed these, have no fear! The Fail Safe Project will return to Monks on September 13!

You may have seen TFSP last year at Uproar Tour. Since then they have been working hard, touring and leaving everyone wanting more. They are doing a West coast tour in October and playing with soma bands you may have seen including The Sammus Theory and… Bobaflex!  Look for them on the voting ballot for this year’s Uproar Tour!

How bout that show on Saturday? One helluva lineup, great meet and greet before the show, and an awesome concert!  I had such a blast and the only complaint I have is that In This Moment only had time for four songs. Adelitas Way was awesome and I checked Shinedown off my bucket list with a smile and hope to check it twice at some point. Enjoy the visual recap!

I love concert days here at the Blaze, there is always so much to do! Missoula’s Wonder Boy Colin Hickey received a funny pic from a friend who was out doing some summer activity in the insane amount of snow we got last week.  So he returned a pic and a few of his buddies got in on the fun with their own pics at which point one of them referred to it as “Frosting”.  With the fresh foot of snow and the long weekend for some, the idea exploded with Missoulian’s photos on the official Frosting Facebook Page. It’s gone nationwide with Colin & his buddies being featured on a bunch of different radio & TV shows and there are even t-shirts declaring Missoula the “Frosting Capital Of The World”.  I don’t know Colin personally but the guy continues to amaze me, he does some pretty rad stuff to keep the FUN in this community including running missoulaevents.net & the Montana Is For Badasses Facebook page and booking shows at The Palace & The Badlander.

With the big snow fall last Tuesday, we asked you to send us your snow pics and here’s what we got.  Like I said, it’s no Frosting, but there is some funny stuff in here.  Thanks to everybody who sent in pics!

Hollywood Undead were definitely ready to rock when they pulled into town.  And Avenged Sevenfold were amazing, as always.

What a night! Starting out with an interview with opening band Rains, continuing with meeting Jamie Jasta of Hatebreed, and ending with a mosh/crowd surfing session during Five Finger Death Punch.

These bands have been battling long days, long miles, and some crappy sickness, but they made it to Missoula, rocked out, and gave us all a great show.  When we first came to the Adams Center, the Blaze crew and several listeners went for a meet and greet with Five Finger Death Punch.  Ivan was dealing with day number 2 of flu and not only came out to greet fans, but also rocked it like nothing was wrong later that night.  Nick Wilson, one of our listeners, designed a long board for FFDP.  Ivan was stoked to receive it. 

Soon after, I met up with Jamie Jasta of Hatebreed.  We talked about tour and his solo project simply titled “Jasta.”  If you ever get a chance, pick up this CD! The tracks on this thing are Jamie joined by a handful of other musicians including Zakk Wylde and All That Remains’ Phil Labonte. 

I have seen FFDP twice before this, but the show last night at the Adams Center was by far the most exciting setup I’ve seen thus far. The LED screens and lights were amazing!  If had the choice of doing it again, I’d say HELL YES!!!!
