Watch Green Day Lead Anti-Trump Chant During 2016 AMAs

Green Day used their gig at the 2016 American Music Awards to send a message to President-elect Donald Trump — and it wasn't exactly friendly.

As you can see in the above video courtesy of ABC via the Huffington Post, the band performed their new song "Bang Bang" at the awards ceremony, but took advantage of the live TV forum to add a new lyrical wrinkle: specifically, a chant — inspired by MDC's punk classic "Born to Die" — that went "No Trump! No KKK! No fascist U.S.A.!"

The AMAs are the most broadly viewed public forum in which the members of Green Day have expressed anti-Trump sentiment, but they're far from the first. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has proven a particularly vocal opponent, lending early support to protests that erupted after the election — and making it clear he hopes the new president faces every roadblock in his attempts to alter public policy.

"He’s not my president," Armstrong stated emphatically during a recent Q&A session. "He doesn’t represent a large half of the country, he doesn’t even represent the people that voted for him. There’s a working class people that wanted change and they were maybe somehow desensitized by all the racist rhetoric. I don’t think a lot of them actually are racist people, but the fact is that we voted him into office. Hopefully, something drastic will happen in the future where he’s not in office anymore."
