The University of Montana Theatre & Dance program will present several performances of Green Day's 'American Idiot' rock opera coming up in April.

Pop-punk masters Green Day burst onto the stage early this decade with an adaptation of their seminal award-winning album of the same name. The rock opera’s action centers on three restless and disaffected young men who rebel—sometimes with disastrous consequences—against stifling suburban life. Politically charged and full of the emotions of young adulthood, The New York Times called American Idiot “thrillingly raucous and gorgeously wrought.”

The performance is based on the book by Billie Joe Armstrong & Michael Mayer and features the music of Green Day, with lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong.

Performances will be at the Montana Theatre, if you've never been, it's directly across the parking lot from the Adams Center in the PAR/TV building. Shows begin on April 18th and run through April 29th, see all dates and times here. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under and $16 with a student ID or senior discount. Show info comes with the warning that performances are "for mature audiences."

You can buy tickets at the Adams Center box office and online.
