Montana Grizzly head coach Mick Delaney says he knew of the possibility that offensive coordinator Timm Rosenbach might head to Weber State if Jody Sears were to be named the head coach.

That announcement was made Monday, and Rosenbach informed Delaney he would be accepting the offensive coordinator position with his old friend and teammate Sears in Ogden.

Delaney said that’s the way it is in the coaching world, and that Rosenbach was very honest about the possibility of the move, so Delaney wasn’t taken by surprise by the announcement.

Delaney says once the smoke clears on Monday, the official search will begin for a new offensive coordinator for Montana. He said he’s already fielded several calls from coaches interested in the position, so there’s no lack of interest.

He said the administration will be looking for a coach with a philosophy that matches the strengths of the program…namely a ‘run-first, pass-second’ approach.

When asked if any other coaches had expressed an interest in looking elsewhere, Delaney said coaching is just like any other profession. If a man is offered an opportunity that would be more beneficial to his family and career, he may take it. He said Montana has been very fortunate to have excellent head coaches and assistants through the years, and that tradition will continue.
