A 29-year-old man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound Saturday morning in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police Chief Ryan Oster said the shooting occurred about 3 a.m. less than a block from the Hamilton Police Department. The incident was at an upstairs apartment at the corner of State Street and South Second. The injured man was not identified. He was taken to Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. His condition has not been reported.

Oster said a man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He is 59-year-old Monte Leon Hanson, who was seen walking in the area at the time. After further investigation, he was taken into custody and jailed. Hanson will appear in justice court for an initial appearance on attempted deliberate homicide.
