Way to stand up for what you believe, but I have to be honest here and say that I personally would consider getting number 666 a lucky omen.

Codie Thacker, a very talented junior on the cross country team at a Kentucky high school has backed out of an important race. She says it's because she was assigned to the number 666, which she says violates her religious beliefs.

The girl and her coach campaigned for a different number but got nowhere. Codie said her beliefs come first:

I didn't want to risk my relationship with God and try to take that number….I told them to mark out my name because it makes me sick just thinking that my name is associated with that number.”

The sad part is that if she had won the race, which she says she’s been training for since June, she would’ve qualified for the state championship.

Codie says she plans to race again next year, as long as she isn't assigned to the number of the beast.
