Iggy Pop is more than a musician; he's an entertainer. The punk icon is making the leap once again offstage and onto the silver screen as the dying rocker Bill in the new film, Blood Orange.

The lead role sees the legend take on the form of an outlaw (trailer above) determined to protect his home and his wife, Isabelle (Kacey Barnfield). The time of peace and tranquility has come to an end when Isabelle's ex Lucas (Ben Lamb) turns up at the couples' home, seeking an inheritance he feels she stole from him. A dismayed Iggy Pop, forever shirtless, sees violence as the only reasonable recourse as Lucas seemingly tries to steal Isabelle back.

Lucas also cautions Iggy's character Bill that Isabelle is falsely in love and wed to him, only looking to come away with his assets. This creates internal strife as Pop tries to sort it all out and make everything right the only way he knows how. Pop's weathered visage and gritty voice couldn't be a more suitable fit for the character of Bill.

Blood Orange, directed by Tony Tobiaswill be arriving on May 17. Fans who can't get enough of Iggy Pop onscreen can also find him in the soon-to-be-released "loudest silent movie on Earth," Gutterdammerung. The film tells the tale of a world devoid of sin, only to see evil return when the Devil's guitar is sent to Earth. Also set to appear in the movie are some of rock and metal's best like Henry Rollins, the late Lemmy Kilmister, Slayer's Tom Araya and more. To view the trailer, click here.
