So near yet so far. One of the most beautiful and popular lakes in Montana got a black eye over the weekend.

Law enforcement is investigating vandalism incidents at Lake Como between Hamilton and Darby. Apparently some "artists" decided that rocks and other structures in the area just didn't look good enough.

Discover the Bitterroot National Forest posted additional photos showing numerous boulders and structures in the area with spray-painted messages. There were also piles of trash left behind, including candy wrappers, water bottles and empty cans of Spam.

If you have any information on who might be responsible, you are asked to contact the folks at Bitterroot National Forest, 406-375-7100.

Such a shame. Here's hoping they find the jerks.
