There has been plenty of talk that Slipknot are working on new music for 2014 and now there's some visual proof. Guitarist Jim Root, who is sitting out Stone Sour's winter 2014 tour to work on the new Slipknot album, just offered a new Instagram photo posting showing himself holding a guitar in the studio.

The shot, showing Root's heavily tattooed arm holding the instrument next to the mixing board, is captioned with the message, "Sig love on the API," with the hashtags #fenderguitar #work #thecoffeesucks #slipknot2014. To see the photographic proof, check below:

The news would seemingly follow suit with Shawn "Clown" Crahan's declarations at last year's Revolver Golden Gods Awards that Slipknot was returning in 2014 and Corey Taylor's talk about the band's next record in interviews over the past year.

One thing that remains unsettled is the band's current lineup as the group surprisingly split with longtime drummer Joey Jordison late last year. Both sides have been relatively guarded in terms of discussing the split, though Jordison did recently reveal that he did not quit the band. So far, a replacement for Jordison has not been named.
