Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe to Write Memoir of Czech Manslaughter Case

Randy Blythe
Lamb of God

Clear out a space on your bookshelves, metalheads, because Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe is writing a memoir. The book, which is currently planned for a Spring 2014 release will focus on the last year of Blythe’s life, detailing his controversial arrest and imprisonment for manslaughter charges in the Czech Republic all the way to his 2013 acquittal and beyond.

In June 2012, Randy Blythe was arrested in a Czech Republic airport while the band was on tour. What followed was one of the most controversial trials in music history, as Blythe was blamed for the death of Daniel Nosek, who succumbed to a head injury roughly a month after attending a 2010 Lamb of God show. Roughly nine months after Blythe’s initial arrest, he was found “not guilty” by a Czech court, which allowed fans worldwide to finally exhale.

Blythe’s upcoming memoir will be released via Da Capo Press, which has published memoirs from legendary musicians such as Tony Iommi, Corey Taylor, Rex Brown and Al Jourgensen. Anyone who follows Blythe’s Instagram knows that the vocalist is a natural writer, but in the mind of Blythe, it’s unfortunate that his first official book will focus on such a negative topic:

While I’ve dreamed of being a published author almost since I began to read, I never imagined my first book would center around such a sad topic. Sometimes though, life unexpectedly provides you a story that needs to be told. I believe this one does (for several different reasons, not just for the benefit of myself), so I will tell it with the respect and dignity all involved deserve. This will be a good read, I promise you, and I hope some good comes of it.

Stay tuned for more updates on Randy Blythe’s upcoming memoir.
