The American Civil Liberties Union has filed suit against the Missoula County Detention Center on behalf of three female inmates.

Sheriff's department spokesman Jason Jaonson says the lawsuit was filed because the women involved feel they are not receiving the same amount of outside recreation time that male inmates receive. He says the women are not simply filing the suit on their own behalf, but for all women and juvenile inmates at the facility.

Johnson says the County detention facility has been sued before, and that attorneys for the County have 60 days to respond to the lawsuit.

Johnson also pointed out the the Missoula jail is a temporary holding facility, and the three women who filed the suit will probably not still be in the detention center when and if the lawsuit comes to trial.
