Heart’s re-recording of “Beautiful Broken” featuring Metallica's James Hetfield on guest vocals has been released!

“Beautiful Broken” originally came out as a bonus track on Heart’s 2012 album, Fanatic. Now, Heart’s upcoming 16th studio album has been named after the song, which premiered today via Rolling Stone. The revamped version features Hetfield trading verses with singer Ann Wilson while providing harmonies and even a few breakout vocal hooks.

"The neo-punk 'Beautiful Broken' is a raw, muscular look at a ripped and torn beauty; a fabulous insanity," Wilson tells Rolling Stone. "James Hetfield of Metallica makes a surprise appearance uttering the clarifying message, ‘Just like you and me,' just to make sure this girl doesn't feel special.”

“Beautiful Broken” is just one track Heart decided to re-imagine for their 2016 full-length. The album will feature fresh versions of cuts like “Down on Me,” “Sweet Darlin’” and “City’s Burning.” "Those songs may have fallen through the cracks, in a way, because of where radio was at the time when they were first released," says Wilson. "Rediscovering those songs, I found ways they emotionally still speak to me."

Heart’s Beautiful Broken album, which also featured three new original songs, will see a July 8 release date. Check out Heart and James Hetfield’s version of “Beautiful Broken” above!
