After several years working to be a fitness model, Missoula's Joy Kushner now has a successful training studio catering to women only, and will be featured in a prominent online fitness magazine.

Kushner got serious about fitness after her daughter Audrey was born nine years ago.

"Right after I had Audrey, I wanted to get in the best shape of my life and so I entered a competition," Kushner said. "I told myself I'm just going to train for it, I'm not going to compete, but once I put in all the hard work I decided I wanted to. After competing in the bikini competition, I decided I would rather coach girls to do that. Then I pursued modeling for a while."

Kushner took a break nearly two years ago to have her second child, and her Facebook page shows the journey of getting back in shape after the birth of her son.

Now, Kushner is being featured on a prominent online fitness magazine, Training and Fitness, a big step in her career as a personal trainer.

"The thing I liked about them is that they publish things that are sustainable and attainable for women," Kushner said. "There are no unrealistic over photoshopped images. Women look at these photos and say, yes, I could be that person, too. So, I submitted a photo and they added me to their 'women on the move', which is such a blessing."

Kushner explains her fitness training philosophy.

"My goal for training women is to make them feel the way that God made them," she said. "So, I want them to look in the mirror and not just see on the outside, I want them to see what God sees in their heart. I want them to spend the time to make them be what they were meant to be, a better mom, wife, businessperson or whatever."
