I am a Spokane native. Born at Deaconess Hospital and a Lewis and Clark Tiger. Also, my main mode of transportation when I was growing up was a moped. So, safe to say, when I heard that Seattle-based rapper Macklemore filmed a music video about buying his first motor scooter in my hometown, I immediately lost my marbles.

This video had me in tears, I'm not even kidding. Seeing the streets in which I grew up on, from Sprague Street to the heart of downtown near the infamous Parkade and Riverfront Park along with one of the most respected lyricists in recent years had me a bit emotional. For real, this video speaks to me on so many levels.

Some may discount this song as a sequel to 'Thrift Shop', but I see it as an homage to all the things I was born and raised on. It's like a time capsule of my younger years, all bottled up into a very catchy five minute splash of retro visuals.

I will always love Spokane, the home of my family and many friends. And to see Macklemore on the streets I know too well got me right in the feels.  I must go back home soon. I miss you, Spokane. Thank you, Macklemore for bringing me back to my youth.

Now, if you will excuse me. I'm off to the dealership to buy me a moped.
