Melvins fans can get ready for an abundance of new music, with one of the band's most ambitious projects to date on the horizon. The double disc A Walk With Love and Death is due on July 7 via Ipecac Recordings and it has ties to a short film of the same name.

The disc is broken up into two parts -- "Death," which will be a proper Melvins release, and "Love" which will be the score for the Jesse Nieminen-directed short titled A Walk With Love and Death. While a release date has not been announced for the short, you can check out a very trippy trailer for the film above.

"This was a huge undertaking,” explained singer Buzz Osborne. “All three things: the album, the soundtrack and the film are benchmarks for us." Drummer Dale Crover added, "A Walk With Love and Death is one giant, dark, moody, psychotic head trip! Not for the faint of heart. You'll sleep with the lights on after listening."

In addition to the Melvins, you can look for a few special guests turning up on the effort, including The Pixies' Joey Santiago, Le Butcherettes' Teri Gender Bender and That Dog's Anna Waronker.

Melvins are in the process of putting together a North American summer tour, so stay tuned for dates to be revealed in the near future. The band will also reveal pre-order information soon, with A Walk With Love and Death expected to be available as a double CD, vinyl and digital formats.
