Lazerwolfs Drummer Bryan "Bubba" Warne passed away on Monday and there will be several ways to remember him this weekend.

When I heard the news, I reached out to Bubba's former band mate Chris LaTray of American Falcon, who sent along this Facebook post.

I know I'm often flippant and sarcastic when promoting these shows, but not this time. For me -- all of us in American Falcon, really -- this show has taken on a kind of significance that we've never had to face before. As many know, before AF Jimmy and I played together for 10+ years in a band called Lazerwolfs. Our drummer, Bryan "Bubba" Warne, was a guy I'd been playing music with since high school. He was my frustrating younger brother. I intend to write more about all this once I get my head around it, but let me say that about 6 or so years ago, after a short little tour, we dropped him off at his house in Frenchtown with plans to rehearse in a couple weeks. We haven't seen or talked to him since that day. He didn't have a phone, so I would leave notes at his house that went unanswered. Then shortly after it was clear he'd moved. We never knew what happened, and he never contacted us, though I'd hear word of him once a year or so.

Bottom line, he died of a heart attack Monday morning. That's about all I know. Probably all I want to know. I don't even know where he was living at the time. Jimmy and I talked, and it was like we always expected one day he would just show up and we figured we might even rock with him again. That door was always open for him. I will say playing music has never been as fun as it was playing with that fucking guy, nor will it likely ever be. I'm bereft, frankly. He was family to me, to us. But Friday night we are going to rock the hell out anyway, and if you aren't doing anything, we'd love it if you'd come out and join us and raise a beer or two for our friend, Bubba, the Eternal Lazerwolf.

Bubba was a hard rockin' dude, our thoughts and condolences go out to his fans, friends and family. If you went to any local rock shows between 2001 and 2009, you likely caught him kicking ass behind the kit for Lazerwolfs.

American Falcon's show is tonight (11/6) at The Palace, with Swamp Ritual and Stone Elk. It's 21+ and NO COVER. We have also learned that there will be a gathering for Bubba tomorrow (11/7) at the Dark Horse starting around 3:30 p.m.
