In addition to the Milwaukee Trail which we covered last week, another off-the-beaten-path walking and biking trail just north of Missoula's I-90 overpass awaits known as the Grant Creek Nature Trail.

Founded by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the "Washington Family Nature Trail" is where the adventure begins.

We start at the small path found in the back yard of the C'mon Inn Hotel off Reserve St neat McKenzie River Pizza. The trail forks in many different directions, but if you keep heading north you'll continue along the way until the mountain sides open to reveal a long biking path that goes on for miles.

It's a perfect trail for the outdoor enthusiast and a real calve-burner for anyone who is biking the trail. One quick note of caution however, once you get about two miles past the I-90 overpass you will likely lose cell service.
