Missoula Man Charged With Assaulting His Severely Disabled Uncle [YouTube]

38 year-old Jeremy Clyde appeared in justice court via video from the Missoula County Jail on Thursday, charged with beating and kicking a severely disabled man, reportedly his uncle, who was under his care.

Clyde was charged with abuse of an older person or a person with developmental disabilities, a felony.

Court documents indicate that the victim lives with a number of severe disabilities. A caseworker at Missoula Community Medical Center noticed that her client appeared to have been physically abused. On November 3, the caseworker noticed a number of injuries and the victim admitted that it was his nephew, Jeremy Clyde, who had assaulted him after they had argued.

Clyde lived with his uncle in an apartment, and was his caregiver. The victim said Clyde had pulled him out of his wheelchair, and then hit and kicked him. He suffered injuries to his face, mouth, right arm and he had blood on his coat. His teeth were knocked loose, and could not eat because he was in too much pain.

Court records say Clyde admitted hitting and kicking his uncle.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Suzy Boylen asked Judge Karen Orzech for $20,000 bail, but she placed Clyde in jail on $10,000 bail. The maximum sentence is up to 10 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.

His next court appearance will be November 20.
