A Missoula man, Shane Childress, has been charged with attempted deliberate homicide after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in the head with a knife.

Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh said the incident occurred Monday morning at about 2:30 in the 1100 block of West Broadway.

"When officers arrived, they made arrangements to get EMS to the female to take care of her wound, and began searching for the male, who was the boyfriend," Welsh said. "The female was transported to St. Patrick Hospital wherre she was treated and released for a laceration to the top of her scalp."

Welsh said Childress was taken into custody.

"The male was located about three hours later in the 3300 block of Brooks Street where he was taken into custody," he said.

The suspect is currently being held without bond in the Missoula County Jail , charged with attempted deliberate homicide. He will appear Tuesday in Missoula Justice Court.
