Missoula Plays Host to Montana Whitewater Championships

On June 27 and June 28 Missoula hosted the Montana Whitewater Championships at Brennan’s Wave adjacent to Caras Park.

After two days of competition, the ultimate winners were the Jackson siblings from Tennessee – the children of EJ, co-owner of Jackson Kayak. Emily Jackson, 22, won the women’s pro K-1 finals and Dane, 18, won the men’s pro K-1 finals.

Emily and Dane weren’t the only Jacksons who had a strong showing in Missoula. Emily’s husband Nick Troutman finished in second place behind his brother-in-law, and EJ placed third.

The Montana Whitewater Championship was the final competition in the 2012 United States Freestyle Kayaking Association Tour.
